hello?

so...I'm an illustrator working in Los Angeles, Jeff asked me to participate and post something. I just posted these somewhere else, so apologies to anyone thats seen this already, but these are spreads for Esquire Russia's "100 Cars We Love". Basically, 100 different cars they featured in the magazine. It was pretty challenging to do these under the time constraints, so I just did them without sketches straight to finish. Sort of turned out a bit more spontaneous that way, perhaps.... Anyways, I promise to post something newer and better next time!

Better than these? Man, these alone are simply amazing, Josh. I'm a big big fan of your work, and so I'm looking forward to seeing what else you've got to share with us.

These are GREAT Josh! Honestly if these 5 illos were made into prints, I'd frame them and put them on my wall, they're that cool!

Thanks for posting, you ROCK!

In all seriousness, Jeff, is there a way to kick him off this blog? I've had it!!! ;)

These are great. They remind me of these drawings in my Grade 9 French textbook, that intrigued me beyond all reason. Similar flowing pen style.

I love the colors you chose to paint them with.

I'm a dullard: explain to me what "without sketches" means. Do you mean like, without sitting down and sketching out concepts first - or do you mean like, doing them straight digitally without picking up a pen or pencil?

They are astounding.

man, I should have started off with small vignette illustrations! I guess this is one of those things where I was working on it for so long that I got pretty sick of it after the job was completed.
jeope- straight to finish as in, no preliminary sketches to show the client, the first thing I showed them was a finished spread just so they know what to expect. I find that often, I work better that way. ideas feel a bit fresher without the constant changes or variations it has to go through in the sketch phase of things. However, it's pretty rare that I can do that with any client.

This is SO good. And no prelim sketches! I'm astounded.
Esquire Russia, eh? How cool is that? One of my goals is to have Playboy Japan as a client. Really!
